This museum focuses on the elegant Argentine art. The museum features a vast collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and tapestries. It features a huge room for its permanent exhibits, another room for temporary exhibits, a sculpture garden, library, multiple purpose room, cafeteria and gift- shop.

The Museum was inaugurated officially in 1938 in dependencies of the then Deliberative Council. Displays usually feature works by popular Argentine and Latin American artists. You can even attend courses and workshops on drawing, painting, sculpting, tapestry photography, restoration, papier- mâché and video making. The museum also organizes painting contests and seminars.

The Museum has the main collection of national art, conformed by more than four thousand pieces of centuries XIX and XX.
Their patrimonies, integrated by paintings, sculptures, drawings and carpets, reflect the successive generations of Argentine artists and incorporate the last artistic tendencies through works awarded in the Hall Plastic Arts Manuel Belgrano, the Biennial of Carpet and the Festival of the Color Benito Quinquela Martin, who organizes the Museum.
