Academia Nacional de Tango

The Academy is one of the most popular amongst the18 national academies of tango. It also has various franchises in the provinces of USA and Europe. The Liceo Superior of the Academia offers 24 different courses during three years, at the end of which students get a Bachelor of Arts degree (or equivalent) in Tango.

At the same time, it offers tango dance lessons. An intensive theoretical and practical course in Tango is also available for foreigners visiting Buenos Aires. It was set up on 28 of June 1990, by Decree 1235 of the National Executive authority. The National Academy of the Tango is 16th in the history of the National Academies.

The National Academies tie with the National State through Ministry of Education and the Secretariat of Culture of the Nation. The poet Horacio Ferrer is its creator and first president. The initial activity was the installation of the First Directive Council and the delivery of diplomas to the 40 members of the Academy.
